Neuro Linguistic Programming

hm.. the malayian politics are getting so draggy that i shall now start blogging sumthing which interests me and tele with my blog title.

and that is prolly time for me to start blogging about neuro linguistic programming, NLP.

NLP is founded by Richard Brandler and John Grinder in 70's, it is a series of procedures developed to help people make positive and desired changes in their lives.


Iwas introduced to NLP during my time i was doing coaching. And it's something that interests me and something that i don't get bored of.


The NLP concept works on how the brain works. There is the concious mind and the sub-concious mind, and while many of us focus on the learnings from our concious mind, we neglected the impact of how much our sub-concious mind can do for us. If you do an extensive research, you will find that 95% of our mental processing goes thru our sub consious mind instead



And this is where NLP taps on our untapped power.



first of all, NLP makes a number of presuppositions. Presuppositions or assumptions are the beliefs a person will find useful in effecting changes to themselves and/or to the world.



i'll state the more important presuppositions;



1. If someone can do something, anyone can do it.
2. Behind every behavior is a positive intention.
3. People already have all the resources they need to overcome their challenges.
4. The map is not the territory.
5. You cannot fail to communicate.
6. There is no failure, there is only feedback


actually there are a couple more presuppositions, go do a google and you'll be able to find out more. I personally like the last presupposition the most "there is no failure but only feedback"

Most times alot of us are focusing too much on the negative feelings being associated with non-success and then naturally neglect the valuable learning aspects that comes along with it.

hm... that's a start from me right now... more to come once im done with my mid term exams.
man... working and studying at the same time aint easy!

but guess what, i have enough resources to deal with that.

Msia Law Minister quits

Malaysia's law minister Zaid Ibrahim had decided to quit his post and resign from UMNO, after being infuriated by the series of ISA arrests. In fact, he is contemplating on joining the opposition forces PKR, led by Anwar.

Cool. cant wait to see 30 lawmakers making the switch from UMNO to PKR.

Seriously, i'm not biased against UMNO, but i do think their policies are flawed, still very much in the old-fashioned mould and narrow-minded.

their elements of the New Ecnomic Policy are still ongoing, and till the day they removed it they will always be facing the problem of mis-allocation of resources.

to sum it up, lets just look what their resigning law minister said regarding his failed attempts to reform;

"i admit i have failed, the whole time i have faced opposition within my own party, and colleagues saying that i dont protect my own race. it is as if i am less of a Malay ... by suggesting these ransformations."

in our lingo, he is "fed-up".
poor guy. he should have switched long ago.



they said Singaporeans are "Kiasu"... but i think they are people out there who are worse than us.

Reporter, Blogger arrested under Internal Security Act

Reporter Tan Hoon Cheng, wrote about the incident of UMNO's MP Datuk Ahmad Ismail's racial remark about chinese being squatters and immigrants to malaysia. She was hence considered a threat to security, peace and public order under ISA of Malaysia.
Isnt a reporter's job to report? interesting.

Arrested.


Raja Petra, a malaysian blogger was arrested for allegedly being a threat to security, peace and public order after a blogging and linking Malaysia Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib to the death of the slained Monoglian translater..

Arrested.


DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, 43, is believed to have been picked up in connection with a residents petition in Puchong over a mosque.

Deem as threat too. Arrested.



What about UMNO's own DatukAhmad Ismail? Made racial sensitive remarks in public, stirred up emotions of both malays and chinese. Urged by UMNO to apologise but refused, open another press conference to stir up even more emotions.

What's his consequences and conclusion?

heavy i suppose?

suspended from politics for 3 months. they will welcome him back with open arms after which.

no threat to security and public order. no arrests.

blogging?

hm... for my first post, what should i blog? Maybe some personal thoughts.

now... while everyone is submitting their first post on their blogs for our digital media across asia module "project"... i ask myself a very simple question, what am i doing this for?

the reason why i asked myself this question is simply because i already own a personal blog address which i have been blogging for the past 3 years. At the same time, i don't feel the impetues to submit my personal blog add for this purpose as i felt the objective of the blogging of my personal blog add and the objective of this blog are entirely different. and as such, catering to different audience. (at least that's what i learnt in marketing ;) )

then it leads me to my next question.
why do we blog?

there are various reasons as to why people blog; some people blog to share their daily experiences, companies blog to enhance communication as well as for marketing purposes, and some enthuasist blog to share the best food around.

but primarily, the reasons as to why people blog can primarily be broken down and categorized into two direct and simple reasons.

1. to garner attention. (notice garner sounds more positivie as compared to using the word "gain")
2. to transmit/pass on opinions and ideals.


i recall to the moment when i first started blogging on my personal blog. that was pretty much three and a half years ago. then, i was just out of a relationship with an ex girlfriend of mine and i wrote her a song to express my emotions back then. And then, it was the moment, the moment i thought i need to tell the entire world how i feel.

and yes you guessed it correctly, i found myself at the sign-up page of blogspot.com ;)

oh ya! at this point of time i'm very tempted to name a very popular blogger in our local scene !
xiaxue blogspot.

i like her. ;)

she is one who best epitomizes our first reason for blogging! isn't it?

hey dun get me wrong hehz, i like her alright!


company blogs, food blogs, media blogs and maybe even politics blogs... how about them? yea, they would be the happiest bloggers on earth if you think what they think and believe what they believe. (hey isnt that what i'm exactly doing to you right now!?)

At this point of time, however, if you are now fully convinced that these are the two primary reasons as to why people blog...

you are wrong.

there's actually a third reason.

but i shan't tell you what it is.

only people in my digital media class will know about it...

and because of it, we are all now working real hard, blogging to you... ;)
